Saving and re-opening
HelioCad autosaves everything, so this lesson is about the mental model: how projects, versions, and the timeline let you leave and return without losing a thing.
Before you start
- A project with a few features in it
- 1
Trust autosave
There is no Save button. As you work, your project is written to the cloud continuously. Watch for the saved indicator to confirm you are up to date.
- 2
Close and reopen
Close the browser tab entirely, then sign back in and open the project. It returns to the exact state you left, timeline and all.
- 3
Roll back the timeline
Drag the timeline marker to an earlier feature to inspect a previous state. Nothing is lost — move it forward again to restore the full model.
Tip: Rolling back is a safe way to branch an idea. Explore from an earlier point without disturbing your latest work.
- 4
Work across devices
Open the same project on a different computer. Because your account carries your work, you can start on a desktop and continue on a laptop.
- 5
Export a local copy
Export the part as STEP or STL whenever you want an offline copy. Your designs are always yours, in open formats.
What you built
Confidence that your work is safe, portable across devices, and reversible through the timeline.
